Check Crunchbase for funding history. Build a valuation model in Excel. Ping your network for intros. Consolidate everything into a memo. Repeat.
By the time you're done, you've spent hours or even days on a deal that might not even make it past partners. Venture diligence hasn't evolved much in 20 years. The tools got fancier, but the workflow is still manual, fragmented, and unintelligent. We're building Ventura to change that.
What Ventura does
Think of it as a co-pilot for deal evaluation. You plug in a company, and Ventura helps you pull comparable deals from funding databases and identify valuation benchmarks, model scenarios (revenue growth, burn rate, dilution) without starting from scratch every time, map founder backgrounds and evaluate founder-market fit based on experience, network, and domain expertise, surface qualitative signals like narrative strength, timing, and positioning that spreadsheets miss, tap your network intelligently (who's connected to the company, which investors passed, and why), and ask the right questions by surfacing gaps in the model, stress-testing assumptions, and uncovering the risks founders don't volunteer.
The goal isn't to automate judgment. It's to compress the busy work so you can spend more time on the questions that actually matter: Is this the right company? Is this the right moment? Do we believe?
Why it matters
Diligence is where deals get made or missed. But right now, the process favors speed over depth, or depth over speed. Rarely both. Ventura is built on the belief that sophistication within the process enables better decision making, and quicker too. Not because it removes human intuition, but because it gives you more room to use it.
Founders have world-class tools to build companies. Investors should have the same to evaluate them.
